These strings (which are also sometimes called brass/brass) have their roots in the famous 1930s American guitarist D'Angelico's wish to D'Addario for a string that had a lot of volume, when amplifiers did not yet exist. D'Addario Bronze strings are popular precisely for their clear and sharp tone and it is this string you should put on your Western guitar if you want to penetrate the wall of sound from the other instruments in the band or if you play solo guitar in an acoustic setting.
