Many ukulele basses, aimed at beginners and enthusiasts, feel cheap and quickly lose their appeal. Kala has produced a relatively affordable beginner bass, but they haven't compromised on the essentials. You get good tuning machines, a good neck, etc. However, they've used slightly cheaper wood and a simpler preamp/microphone compared to many of Kala's other basses.
