💡 Pro-tip: String changes and bridge pins on LO-MA

Roos LO-MA uses bridge pins to secure the strings – a common solution on exclusive acoustic guitars, but a bit rarer on ukuleles. This gives the instrument a clean and stylish look, but it requires an understanding of how the mechanism works.

How it works: Instead of tying the string around the bridge itself, it is held in place under the top with a knot. A bridge pin is then pressed into the hole to lock the string and the knot against the inside of the top.

The art of tying the right knot: Unlike steel strings on a guitar, which almost always have a pre-made metal ball end, you must tie this knot yourself on the ukulele's nylon strings.

The balancing act: The knot must be large enough to stay put under the top, but at the same time not so large that you can't push the string and knot down through the hole during installation.
Tip: It's completely normal for a newly installed string to "pop out" the first time you tune it up. It often takes a couple of tries for the knot to sit perfectly.

The secret: Metal beads The factory-installed strings on the LO-MA have a small metal bead that acts as an artificial "ball end". By using this bead, you don't need to tie a large knot, which makes installation much easier.

A good piece of advice: Keep these metal beads when you change strings! You can easily thread them onto your new strings and reuse them. This makes the next string change both quicker and safer.
