Smiger's UBS-05 (and also its older sibling UBS-06) is a ukulele bass that stands out a little from the crowd.
Many ukulele basses seem to be cast from the same mold, for better or for worse, regardless of price range and manufacturer.
Here we have a cutaway that gives the bass a slightly personal shape. The UBS-05 also has a so-called armrest with inlays of maple wood.
Here we have a chair that is compensated.
Instead of sound holes and f-holes, we find three wavy holes, openings. Something that reduces the risk of feedback and at the same time gives the bass a bit of personality.
The UBS-06 is built from solid koa and the lid is from solid spruce. Something that makes it feel solid. Almost on the verge of heavy.
The UBS-05 does not have a truss root. Big brother UBS-06 is a little more lavish and has this.
The UBS-05 comes with a robust bag.
